Fatherhood Friday Santa Clause

Following Christmas and fighting to teach my kids the spirit of the season, which is actually… giving!  I came across a quote that befits a father reflecting on the empty pockets of Christmas.

“There are three stages of a man’s life:  He believes in Santa Claus, he doesn’t believe in Santa Claus, he is Santa Claus.”  — Author Unknown

Fatherhood Friday Diddy

Diddy recently released his family Christmas card to the media, so since he is trending and you know what today is … HAPPY FATHERHOOD FRIDAY!  Diddy has five children with three different women and is the informal stepfather of a sixth.

Below is Diddy with stepson Quincy, 22,  biological sons Justin, 20, and Christian, 15. His three daughters, twins D’Lila and Jessie, and Chance, all 7.

“My children are my proudest moment. Like me, they’re chameleons, as comfortable in the Hamptons as they are in the streets of Harlem. ” -Diddy

Shaq Blocks Ex From Scoring Reality Show With Kids

Shaquille O’Neal is not feeling reality maven and ex-wife Shaunie O’Neal exploiting his children (they have four together) in a TV show. “Over my dead body,” were his exact words, according to TMZ. Shaunie’s argument is that it will be like the Cosby Show.

Shaunie was the evil mastermind behind the cat fight ridden, no redeeming value junk of a show, “Basketball Wives.” What would make one think coming from that, she could hit the opposite end of the spectrum with goodness?

Shaq’s not having it.  He feels like the kids would be at the center of this show and could suffer from the demands of making their lives so public.

Respect to Shaq for standing his ground and sending Shaunie scrambling for her lawyers.  As the world turns.

Fatherhood Friday Madiba

As the celebration of the life of Nelson Mandela continues we at DaddysCool carry it in to #FatherhoodFriday. Mandela was the father of six children and though his struggle for his people and their children did not always have him around his own children it does not take away from his place today and forever.  Rest in paradise, Mandela.

“History will judge us by the difference we make in the everyday lives of children.” – Nelson Mandela

“The true character of a society is revealed in how it treats its children.” – Nelson Mandela

“We understand and promote the notion that while children need to be guided they also have an entrenched right to be whatever they want to be and that they can achieve this only if they are given the space to dream and live out their dreams.” – Nelson Mandela

“I have often wondered whether a person is justified in neglecting his own family to fight for opportunities for others.” -Nelson Mandela

Fatherhood Friday Paul Walker

This past week Social Media went crazy with the passing of Fast and Furious movie franchise star, Paul Walker died in a car crash leaving behind his 15-year old daughter, Meadow.  Today is the first and last post you will see as we celebrate Walker this Fatherhood Friday.  #RIP #DadsRule #FatherhoodFriday is the new #FF

“My baby wasn’t planned,” Walker said. “I wasn’t married, out of wedlock, the whole bit. (I was) finding my step with it. I’m still finding my step. I think you always are. I’m five times the father that I was five years ago. Your head’s more in it. Your heart’s more in it. You can’t force it. You want to be better at it, just something hasn’t clicked yet.” – Paul Walker

Why My Daughter Needs Less Homework

My daughter was tasked with writing an essay of her choosing to present an argument for her 4th grade literacy homework. Given the fact that she got home a late from Chess club and still had to have dinner, shower, do math homework, general knowledge homework and said four-plus paragraph essay, her topic became clear.

“We Need Less Homework!!!”

She included in her argument the side of the parent (me) who has multiples, the teacher who need to consider their own personal time and the tired student.  She said, “there needs to be a happy medium.”  I made sure she presented her argument to me and that she knew what “median” meant.  She did.  The image above is the first draft, I edited and she made the changes. Who knows, maybe tonight she will have less homework.
